School History
A Young Children Montessori Academy (AYCMA) was originally founded in June of 1996. With only two months to prepare, owners Charles and Belkis Young had very little time to re-furbish the abandoned building. At the grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremonies, volunteers, community leaders, and prospective parents gathered to join in the festive occasion.
With the help and support of the community, the first classroom was opened in August 1996 with 12 students enrolled. Throughout the past three years the school had reached its maximum enrollment potential at its present location on Pelican Boulevard. In an effort to accommodate the ever-growing student population, the school began the lengthy process of loan approval, location and site planning for the new school.
On February 3, 2000 @ 9:00 a.m. ground was broken and history was made as we opened our new facility at 3221 Chiquita Boulevard. The 12,000 square foot main building houses an Infant room, a Toddler room, four Pre-School and Kindergarten classrooms. The main building also houses a full kitchen, three administrative offices, a teacher work-room and a reception area. The rear building houses two elementary multi-age classrooms.
The new facility has a state of the art security system, media and computer center, sound-proof music studio, a physical exercise course, water playground, gardens and lots more. Future plans are to include the addition of a Middle School, Science Lab, Library, Gymnasium and Ceramic and Art Studio. We look forward to providing your child with educational excellence and we commit ourselves to the formation of the whole child. AYCMA is dedicated to building the young minds of tomorrow.
